The world is going digital so quickly that its easy to feel like a digital dunce, so this site was created to provide help and information on all things digital from cameras and videos to digital art, printing and design. Enjoy the ride.
Since starting this website which concentrates on digital products, I regularly get asked for advice on what type of digital camera I recommend, or what brand is superior.
Unfortunately It’s not a simple query to answer as there are numerous makes and types of digital cameras which only serve to add to the confusion. If it were simply a question of reviewing the cameras and comparing prices it would be easy, but when comparing digital cameras you need to consider each separate function.
Digital Cameras possess numerous functions, with the cheaper varieties having many less options than their costly counterparts. Conversely, a low cost digital camera is much easier to learn how to operate.
More costly digital cameras have additional features and you need to review what features are available. You must determine what you are going to use the camera for so you know what features are most important to your needs.
With all of this in mind, I have set out the eight most important considerations to make prior to purchasing a digital camera:
1. Does it possess “Exposure Compensation?” This is an important aspect as it allows you to alter the light setting.
2. Can you turn the flash on and off? Automatic flashes are good, but you should be able to control this setting.
3. Does it have automated red-eye adjustment?
4. What size images will it take?
5. is the camera suitable for close up shots? This is important if you are taking photographs of small objects.
6. How easy is it to use?
7. How strong is it? I have seen expensive digital cameras dropped on the road, so a sturdy camera is likely to withstand this type of treatment much better than an inferior one.
8. How does it compare in price to similar models?
You can study digital camera reviews on the web, but in my opinion, you need to physically test out the camera. Before I purchased my latest digital camera, I went to my local camera store and took pictures with different cameras, using some items that I wished to upload to my website and discovered what was best….it was hands on testing.
Finally, make sure you look at the pictures on a computer screen. The small display on the back of the digital camera is not an adequate indicator of the cameras quality.
Today we look at Digital MP3 players
I first bought a digital MP3 player several years ago when the devices were still pretty new to the consumer market. I wanted a convenient way to listen to be able to listen to audiobooks or music while on my morning walk every day. At that time, there were only a few different digital MP3 players to choose from, so it didn’t take me long to compare features and prices, and to make a selection. Now, after all these years of fine service, my old device has finally given out on me, which means that it’s time for me to buy a new digital MP3 player.
I hadn’t really been keeping up with new portable music device trends, so I didn’t know what to expect when I visited my local electronics store. Of course I had heard of the incredible popularity of the Apple iPod and I knew that this was currently the leading digital MP3 player on the market. I figured that I would see a lot of iPods on the electronics store shelves. What I wasn’t prepared for was the sheer number of digital MP3 players that are available these days. I saw devices from companies like iRiver, Creative, Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, and many more that I can’t even remember right now. I was blown away by the range of choices, styles, colors, song capacities, and prices. Obviously it was going to take me a lot longer to find the best digital MP3 player this time around.
I decided to hold off on my purchase until I had a chance to read some online digital MP3 player reviews. I wasn’t a tech expert, so I had no idea which features were worth paying for at this point. Did I really need video capabilities on my digital MP3 player or could I do without? Was flash memory an absolute must in a digital MP3 player or could I get by without it? These were the questions that I wanted answered before I spent a couple hundred dollars on a new digital MP3 player.
Fortunately, there’s no shortage of information about digital MP3 players on the Internet. I was able to find plenty of thoughtful reviews from both experts and regular consumers alike, which allowed me to determine which portable music device I should buy. As soon as I walked out of the store with my new digital MP3 player, I felt that I had made a very smart buy and had gotten a great deal. I just wish I could feel that confident about all my tech purchases!
